Rocky Journey

First thing in the morning the alarm goes off. Another morning in South Slovakia. Knowing that we are going mountain trekking, today's will be the hardest. My friends Igor and Daniel are coming with their parents on this adventure. As we get into the car, Igor's mom begins planning on which route we will be taking. We are taking one tough trip on one of the highest mountains in the Tatras mountain range. The mountain is inside a crater, kind of like a freeze frame of a raindrop in a bowl. After a long drive up the mountain to get to the area, we all got out and finished our final preparations for the hike. The trek was planned to take the route around the mountain. Halfway we would have to scale a steep incline to keep on going. As usual, me, Igor and Daniel get ahead of the group and wait. The mountain was very rocky and not many plants grew on it except for the occasional bush. About halfway to the incline, our group started getting thirsty and we were running low on water. Luckily there are 3 fresh water lakes around the mountain. My dad decided to stop here so we can have lunch and fill our bottles. During our lunch, me and my friends devoured our sandwiches and got Kit Kat bars. We departed early and I took the lead this time. When we could see the incline, Igor began getting nervous because he was quite scared of heights. At the base of the incline, the angle began increasing quite quickly, but we were able to get to the chain climb by zig-zagging instead of going straight up. Igor, however did not want to climb up the incline and started to get dizzy. His mom got worried so we planned to meet up at the car. Igor, his mom and Daniel went back the way we came and the rest of us kept on going. After the chains, we had an amazing view of the rest of the mountain. This half of the mountain had much more greenery with it's own river. Going down we find that there is a waterfall and we had to take the trail beside it in order to return to the our vehicle. At the base of the falls, we saw a small rainbow from the cloud of water at the bottom. After a few camera shoots, we depart again on the trail. We soon run into a forest area where the trees are thick and the ground is intertwined with tree roots. Relaxing as it may seem, it was all downhill. A downhill sprint was in play. Stepping between the roots and not tripping was fun. The sprints came to quick ends when rocks caused a sudden drop of about 3 feet and continued with a rocky path. Slowing our dash transformed into steady pace. Many of these rocks were slippery so we had to be careful. After about half an hour, we leave the forest and all that rests is a path cutting through a grassy field all the way back to our car. Assuming that Igor and his group did not get their yet, we walked the way there. Coincidentally we reach the car at the same time and waste no more getting to the nearby restaurant where we all order well made food. Starving for a good meal we wait and all get high quality food for a good price. With our bellies full and a satisfied journey, we depart back to our hostel for another trek just waiting to unravel!

Olympic Darkside

I believe that the Olympics do not need so much money as to through us into a massive debt. A debt that will require new tax, inflated prices and time. The Olympics bring in some revenue through tourists and hotels, but not even a fraction of the hole dug ourselves into. All that investment spent for a 2 week celebration of many athletes getting together sharing stories and doing what they trained to do for their whole lives. The infrastructure left behind will be removed or reused as hotels or recreation centers only having the spirit of it being used for the Olympics.
All the money we burned for those glorified five ring monuments being used for touring attention and sightseeing.
This massive party leaves only debt and drunk people wondering around the streets. My metaphor of the day for this would be that the Olympics are one of many Pandora's boxes, giving some happiness but releasing a lot of unforeseen consequences, monsters that devour the cities wallet and bank accounts. This is why the Olympics should be a cheap not overly extravagant celebration unless the city can pay for it. Mount a TV on the wall, move your hot tub and get some buddies to join you in watching the Olympics; That's how they should be spent, not a overly hyped world class best of the best contest. The government should know when to stop spending, I mean that they run everything, no money nothing happening, know what i mean?

Calm... before the thunder

Waking up to the alert, our forces scrambling into position. As we march into wedge formations awaiting the enemy forces. Our mission: hold the fort at lane nine. The 12th infantry regiment has already warmed up, the medics are on stand-by awaiting the injured.
As the red LED clock hit 9:00 AM, the light came. As I prepare myself for the oncoming onslaught, remembering not to even flinch, not to retreat in the odds of defeat. Their cannons role in and load up. First volley already hit our friends in lane 8, decimating the whole squad.
The defenders were flying left and right. As the slaughter continued, our squad was left unscathed. Just as I finished that thought, our doom-bringer comes and i see the bowling ball picking up speed.
